That looks like an unconvincing special effect from a low-budget SF film.

Reality is self-referential?
That is a real(ity) awesome photo, sho nuff.
I interpretted that as a metaphor: reality being a blank sphere, ready for our interpretation and what we make of it; imagination depicted as one person on the ground watching another soar, impossibility challenged and taken personally, invention and dreams. God I love being a nerd, and I truly mean that.
